Company
Located in Christchurch, New Zealand, we are Registered Master Builders who specialise in architectural hill work, both new builds and renovations. Our trademarks are high quality workmanship, with a focus on sustainable building practices.
Director, Taf Barrie, started the company in 2010, and has since completed a variety of projects, for individual clients, and contracting as a foreman on large commercial projects. The decision to expand the company in 2012 allowed Taf to build his own team and focus on local work, fitting with the company’s commitment to eco-conscious building practices.
Experienced in new architectural builds and hill work, we are also happy to look at your renovation project, offering a range of design services, should you need some advice in this area.
Taf Barrie
Taf (known as Andrew by the bank manager and his mother) has been a qualified carpenter/joiner since 1984. His dedication to excellence was recognised early on, when he won Apprentice of the Year for the Southern Counties. He worked as a carpenter/joiner in Britain and Germany until taking time out to travel in 1990. His travels eventually led him to New Zealand, where he fell in love with the lifestyle and the country.
A New Zealand resident for over twenty years, he has been building here for all that time, both on the tools, and as a foreman for the past 15 years with Hanham & Philp before starting Right Angle Construction in 2010.
Taf enjoys a symbiotic relationship with architects he has worked for - he has a good eye for design, combined with practical knowledge and experience of how to best achieve the finished product.
Jenny Cunningham
Jenny runs the administration and design consultancy aspects of Right Angle, in partnership with Taf.
With more than ten years in business management, Jenny keeps the administration side of Right Angle running smoothly, ensuring that Taf can focus on his area of expertise.
A qualified pattern maker and tailor, twenty years experience in this area of design have overlapped in the past decade with increased involvement in building, furniture and interior design. Although not a Licensed Building Practitioner (LBP) in Design (due to a busy workload, rather than a lack of interest!), she is experienced in 3-D computer modelling, and in helping individual clients through the design process.
